Taebaeksan National Park
Taebaeksan is a sacred mountain of the nation standing at the center of the Baekdudaegan range, and is the root mountain that serves as the lifeblood of the Korean Peninsula south of the DMZ, from which the Han River, Nakdong River, and Oshipcheon River of Samcheok originate. Taebaeksan is centered around Yeongbong Peak (1,560m), which has the Cheonje Altar, and consists of Janggunbong Peak (1,567m) to the north, Munsubong Peak (1,517m) to the east, Busoebong Peak (1,546m) between Yeongbong and Munsubong, with the highest peak being Hambaksan (1,572m).
