Jeongbangpokpo Falls
Jeongbang Waterfall, one of the three major waterfalls in Jeju along with Cheonjiyeon and Cheonjeyeon, is located to the southeast of downtown Seogwipo. It is the only coastal waterfall in the East that falls directly into the sea, and when sunlight reflects off the grand waterfall's sound and cascading water, seven-colored rainbows blend with the blue sea to create a mystical spectacle. Since ancient times, this place was called Jeongbang Ha-pokpo (正房夏瀑) and was regarded as one of the ten scenic sites of Yeongju. According to a legend, China's Qin Emperor Qin Shi Huang ordered Xu Fu to go to Hallasan, one of the three divine mountains of the East, to find the herb of immortality, but when he could not find it, he inscribed 'Xu Fu Guo Zhi (徐市過之)' on the cliff of Jeongbang Waterfall before returning westward.
